4 signs that you should make a career change...

source
LOL The thought has crossed my mind......my career has been weighing very heavy on my mind lately.  I'm 44 and feel like I'm going nowhere.  I've been at the same company for almost 25 years (with a 9 month break in there somewhere to try my hand at real estate).  So where am I going?  I don't know.  The unknown is freaky.  So I've come up with 4 signs that might give you a hint that it's time....time for a change.

source
You day-dream about what kind of adult beverage you're going to have when you get home......OH YES!  This is so me lately.  I think about it often.  It takes the edge off, you know?  Helps me forget the days happenings and relax.  C'mon!  Who doesn't like an adult beverage????  (OK OK, maybe not every night of the week....)

You start to finish the sentences of the people calling you......  Yep, I do that sometimes.  People will call in and they sometimes are confused, not sure what they mean, or just really don't know what they are talking about.  It takes a lot of patience to sit there and listen to them ramble.  Sometimes I help them out.....LOL

source
You do not speak on the phone outside of your job...... Ohhhhh yea....totally me again. Seriously....text me...do not call.  LOL  Growing up (ask my Mommy!!) I used to L-O-V-E being on the phone.  I had all my friend's phone numbers memorized.  I would yap on the phone till my Mom told me it was time to get off.  Now?  I rarely answer my cell phone.  Just the thought of talking sometimes makes me cringe.  Guess that is what happens after 25 years of yacking on the phone for a living.  Sad, but true.  So if I talk to you on the phone.....consider yourself lucky!  :)

source
You start to express your opinions to management more.....  Well...this might be your personality normally.  But for me, I usually do not do this.  However, lately I find myself expressing myself more and more.  Maybe I'm just getting older, or beginning not to really care what they think of me.  The above "someecard" is funny to me....I say we are treated like mushrooms all the time.  LOL!

So there you have my 4 signs.  Can you relate to these?  Tell me in the comments!

Finish This! 3rd edition

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

I'm so glad that Spring is finally here!  I can see the trees starting to bud and it makes me very happy!

It's time for another Finish This!  A link up I participate in by fellow bloggers:

FinishThis--SMALL

1)  My favorite makeup item is...

AVON tinted moisture - I LOVE this stuff!  It has sunscreen in it, which is very important.  It's very light for summer-time.  I even wear it in the winter I love it so much!  I was so bummed when I heard they do not make this anymore.  I'll have to hunt down a new brand to love when I'm finished with this tube.  booooo!

2)  The best book I've ever read was ______ because....

I can't choose just one.  My favorite author was Sylvia Browne (RIP).  I loved reading all her books.  They just spoke to me.  She passed away a few months ago.  :(

3)  My favorite TV show is....

I know I can't be alone when I say SOA!  (Son's of Anarchy)  OH MAN I love this show!  When I had my gall bladder out in March I totally binged watched Season 1 through 6 while I was off work.  LOL!  Can't wait till it starts back up again in September.

4)  The most spontaneous thing I've ever done is.....

Well, I'm a Capricorn, so spontaneous doesn't really describe us too well!  But if I had to name something, it was signing up to train and run a 1/2 marathon with my best friend.  (Don't have to do THAT again!!)

5)  I prefer dogs/cats because.....

There is no doubt that I am a dog person.  Nothing against cats...guess I'm just not a cat person!  I grew up having dogs and I've had them my whole adult life.  <3

6)  I met my significant other.....

AT WORK!  yuck!  haha!  I was good friends with his cousin and she introduced us.  He moved on to another job, but I am still there 20 some years later.  (what is wrong with me?!?!?)

So, now it's YOUR turn!  How would you answer these questions?

Join me next week when we explore these questions:

My last growing pain was...
I grow and nurture...
The guilt-free snack I enjoy most....
The best reason to stay up all night....
If I were stranded on a desert island, I'd...

Work stuff

Oh yes….that one co-worker that gets under your skin.  I have one.  I’m sure you do as well.  I am not a mean person, (honest!) but this person talks a lot….about NOTHING.  From the moment they come in till they leave at the end of the day.   Maybe it is just where I am getting these doses of nonsense chatter.  Maybe it would be different if I wasn’t at work?  I don’t know.

But for those that don’t know me well, I was born under the sun sign of Capricorn.  Capricorns are very serious about their work.  I mean SERIOUS.  Not much time for small talk or nonsense chatter.  I want to do my work.  I mean don’t get me wrong, I let loose and talk every now and again.  (LOL)  But for the most part I could do my job with little interaction from any other humans (except the people talking to me on the other end of my phone).  I guess that is why Capricorns might come off as “aloof” or “snobby”.  I’m not really either of those things, I’m just working.

So now that you know this about me, the endless “Are we having fun yet?” or “I’m having way too much fun, someone please make it stop!” can really just drive me to start drinking at work (I would not do that by the way).   Then there are times where they must share about what every customer said to them.  Why?  I have heard the same scenarios about 50 times over the course of my career here. LOL

Anyway, you get the picture.  We all have annoying people we must work with.  Perhaps my quiet manner or aloofness gets on other peoples nerves.  Who knows!

Now shut it, I’m trying to work.  J

What would they say?

I have a good friend that posted this on his Facebook status and I thought it was very interesting and thought provoking:

If the team from 60 minutes asked your family and friends to name the things most important to you, what would they say? What's the funniest thing? What would you hope they would say?

So interesting in fact, I thought I would write about it!  (Don't worry I asked him if he minded and he said of course not!)

I think this would depend on "who" they asked.  If they asked my family what is important to me, they probably would say my dogs and foster dogs, my job, my love for music, my fitness and weight goals.

Some of the things they might wonder about:  why I am so quiet sometimes, why I don't call more often, why I fell off the religion boat.  The funniest thing they would probably say about me is the stories I tell them about my dogs and my facial expressions.

The things I hope they would say about me is that I am a caring, spiritual, have a big heart, good listener and like to help others.  And even though I did not follow my family on that religious boat, I am still a spiritual person, just in a different way!

NOW!  If you ask my friends (LOL) you might hear different things.  The number one thing my friends would say is important to me is ZUMBA!  I fell in love with ZUMBA and became an instructor.  I'm constantly talking about it.  They also know my love for music - all kinds of music.  From classical, top 40, Spanish, hip hop, classic rock, 80's and 90's, head bangin' - you name it.  My work friends would probably say I am "by the book" and try to give the best customer service even though we are limited to what we can do.

The funniest things they might say is how I always have a new bruise to show on my legs (especially in the summer), I like wine, how I have two left feet sometimes and stumble (yes, even in ZUMBA class, I just keep moving and pretend it was part of the choreography!), how sarcastic I can be and add alcohol to any of these things and it just becomes a production!  :)

The things I hope they would say about me is that I am a loyal friend, one who cares about all of them in different ways.  I am a Capricorn - it's just embedded in me, I can't help it!

So how about YOU?!?  This really made me think long and hard about myself.  What would people say about YOU?
