Carpe Diem

source

Can not believe September is upon us already.  When I was driving out of my development yesterday I noticed the top of a few trees were turning colors already.

This will probably be another ramble post...well because I can't help what goes through my brain and then I feel compelled to write about it.  Aren't you lucky?!  :)

The above picture quote I saw today on Facebook.  Because I am constantly beating myself up this caught my attention.  I often wonder what my life would be like if I didn't do this.  What if I just accepted me for the way I am?  What if I accepted things in my life were this way and deal with it?  I often feel that at my age I should have long ago accepted myself.  I should be settled in to what one would think is a happy life.  But instead I find myself constantly questioning things.  Constantly beating myself up over everything.  Wondering "what if". I am a work in progress.  I guess that is this crazy thing we call life.

Then there is my Mommy.  Man, she knows me like a book.  I swear I don't even have to say a word and she knows.  One day last week I called her on my lunch break at work and it was the best 1/2 hour I spent in a long time.  Just talking about life.  My career.  Where am I going?  I feel lost.  She is my rock.  So I get an email from her this morning and the subject is simply "Carpe Diem".  Seize the day.  Encouraging me to write.  I love her.

So later this week I will "Carpe Diem" as I will be attending a blog conference in Philadelphia over the weekend.  I am going by myself.  If you know me, well this is unusual, but I'm doing it.  I can not wait to learn more about writing and blogging and connect with others who like to write like me.

Tell me....how do you work "Carpe Diem" in to your daily life?

Finish This! 6th Edition

Hope everyone is having a good week so far!  It's time for another Finish This post!  I am linking up with:

FinishThis--SMALL

A lesson I learned from my Mom.....

I have learned many lessons from my Mom over the years!  But the one I chose was "do not stare at people who are different than you".  (meaning like if someone has a disability)  I grew up knowing that people that were different were just like me and you.  And starring at them only makes them more uncomfortable than they probably already are.  I feel this was being taught to us at a young age, because little did we know, my Sister's Son, Benjamin was born with Williams Syndrome.  It was good practice.  :)

To burn calories, I.....

Normally I try to get to the gym at least 3 times a week.  I'll do the treadmill or elliptical and also do some strength training.  I just committed myself to a 4 week boot camp class.  (2 classes a week) This is NO JOKE!  For real!  Tonight is my 3rd class and I'm still sore from Monday's class.  hehe

My best hair day was......

I can't recall one day in particular, except maybe my wedding day.  Every time my Heather-Feather cuts my hair the salon, I always feel like I'm having a good hair day.  She always styles it for me.  Love her!

I am grateful for.....

Oh many things!  I am grateful for a roof over my head, a job that helps provide for my family, an insurance plan that helps take care of my health.  I am grateful for my family & my friends!

Now it's YOUR turn!  How would you answer these questions?  Feel free to answer them in the comments below!

Join me next week as I write about these:

My favorite recipe is....
I believe in.....
I need to set boundaries.....
I began living when....

Mother's Day 2014

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mommy's out there!  It's your day!  I hope you spend it doing something you love with the people you love.

Today I'd like to share my favorite memory of my Mom.  You see, it's hard to pick just one memory.  I have many memories of my Mom and I love them all!

But the one that sticks out in my mind the most is having my Mom present during my labor.  I was so young and the term "I WANT MY MOMMY!!" was totally me.  After graduation, I got married and moved to Massachusetts with my new husband.  His family was living there at the time so that is where we headed.

Fast forward a few months.  I was very home sick!  My parents had decided to make the drive up to see their first grandchild be born.  I can't tell you how nice it was to have my Mom there during my labor.  To see her kind smile and loving eyes just made me feel so much better.  When the time came for them to leave it was very hard for me to say goodbye.

When I look back at my life I can see now that the one thing that has remained the same all this time is my Mom.  Steady and sure, she has been there.  Even though I've grown up, got divorced, remarried and raised my daughter, Mom is still there.  I love her dearly!

So this year and every year on Mother's Day, I will celebrate my Mom.  I cherish the time we have together.  I hope you spend today celebrating the Mom in your life too!

Just drive!

The open road…….have you ever felt like getting in your car or ride of choice and just drive?  To anywhere?  Maybe with a destination in mind, or perhaps just drive till you end up somewhere?

I get this way sometimes.  Right now is one of them.  It seems sometimes life just gets the better of me and I want to just run.  Nothing life shattering happening, just feel like life catches up to me.

There’s something appealing about the open road and being alone with your favorite music blasting in the car.  I can sing at the top of my lungs because no one will hear me, or I can just sort through my thoughts.  There is a song that comes to mind when I get the urge to drive.  “Brand New Start” by Alter Bridge.  I love this song!

Cast your sorrows to the wind
Let the highway take us in
As we escape the disorder

So if you ever decide to take a drive to sort out your thoughts, take this song with you.  J

As my very wise Mother says “this too shall pass, dear”…yes…yes it will.
