Captain Obvious...do you know one?

THIS!

This little cartoon cracks me up.  My co-worker / friend made this.  We giggle about it often.  So if you work in a small office I'm sure you feel my pain here.

I never understood the need to point out the obvious.  I mean, I obviously KNOW that I'm making copies etc...  It's not like I'm standing there asleep unaware of what I'm doing?!

If you've been reading my blog over the past 2 years, you have heard me mention that I am a Capricorn.  Capricorns are very serious about their work!  I do not feel the need to fill awkward silence with silly comments.  I don't mind the silence.  In fact I WELCOME it.  :)

Do you work with, or know a "Captain Obvious"?  Tell me about in the comments!

4 signs that you should make a career change...

source
LOL The thought has crossed my mind......my career has been weighing very heavy on my mind lately.  I'm 44 and feel like I'm going nowhere.  I've been at the same company for almost 25 years (with a 9 month break in there somewhere to try my hand at real estate).  So where am I going?  I don't know.  The unknown is freaky.  So I've come up with 4 signs that might give you a hint that it's time....time for a change.

source
You day-dream about what kind of adult beverage you're going to have when you get home......OH YES!  This is so me lately.  I think about it often.  It takes the edge off, you know?  Helps me forget the days happenings and relax.  C'mon!  Who doesn't like an adult beverage????  (OK OK, maybe not every night of the week....)

source
You start to finish the sentences of the people calling you......  Yep, I do that sometimes.  People will call in and they sometimes are confused, not sure what they mean, or just really don't know what they are talking about.  It takes a lot of patience to sit there and listen to them ramble.  Sometimes I help them out.....LOL

source
You do not speak on the phone outside of your job...... Ohhhhh yea....totally me again. Seriously....text me...do not call.  LOL  Growing up (ask my Mommy!!) I used to L-O-V-E being on the phone.  I had all my friend's phone numbers memorized.  I would yap on the phone till my Mom told me it was time to get off.  Now?  I rarely answer my cell phone.  Just the thought of talking sometimes makes me cringe.  Guess that is what happens after 25 years of yacking on the phone for a living.  Sad, but true.  So if I talk to you on the phone.....consider yourself lucky!  :)

source
You start to express your opinions to management more.....  Well...this might be your personality normally.  But for me, I usually do not do this.  However, lately I find myself expressing myself more and more.  Maybe I'm just getting older, or beginning not to really care what they think of me.  The above "someecard" is funny to me....I say we are treated like mushrooms all the time.  LOL!

So there you have my 4 signs.  Can you relate to these?  Tell me in the comments!

Finish This! 19th edition

This is a fun game called "Finish This"!  Where our awesome co-hostesses come up with great topics for us to write about.  Check them out!

Lisa @ Coastlined http://lisadenoia.com/
Jen @ The Arizona Russums http://www.theazrussums.com/
Becky @ The Java Mama http://www.thejavamama.com/

This week we're talking about Labor Day and careers/jobs.  Let's get to it!

I celebrated Labor Day by........ doing regular house stuff.  I am fortunate my company gives us this day off. I cut up cantaloupe, did laundry, writing and later on getting my hair cut.  Pretty boring huh?

My dream job/career would be.......Ok, it's weird that we're talking about this topic!  I've been struggling with my job for awhile now.  Just feeling like there has got to be more to life than this.  So it's been weighing heavily on my mind the past few weeks.  But the problem is, I've been at my job for almost 25 years.  I grew up there.  I don't know anything different.  And I don't know what I want to be when I grow up.  LOL

My first paying job was....... wow, so long ago!  I was in high school and worked at Dairy Queen!  I didn't like it much, but I did work with some of my friends, so that made it OK.  I can still make the infamous Dairy Queen "swirl" on the top of a cone.  Yep.

My current job is........ I talk about it frequently....LOL  I do customer service work for a dental manufacturer.  I am burned out; however.  Big time.  I am currently on a mission to consider what else might be out there for me.  I usually draw a blank though.

Now it's your turn.....tell me all about it in the comments!

Finish This! 12th edition

Times flies!  Can't believe it's time for another 'finish this'!  Like every week, I am linking up through:

Lisa @ Coastlined http://lisadenoia.com/
Jen @ The Arizona Russums http://www.theazrussums.com/
Becky @ The Java Mama http://www.thejavamama.com/

Let's do this!

It's never too late......  to accomplish bucket list items.  I totally just did this last weekend.  My family and I took a 5-hour comprehensive kayaking course!  It was fun and we had a blast.

I compare myself to others..... way too much.  I don't know why we're so hard on ourselves.  We are our own worst enemies.  I'm constantly comparing myself to others and I wish I wouldn't.

My personality is...... quiet...for the most part.  Until you get to know me, then I open up a lot more.  I'm a Capricorn, so sometimes I might come off as aloof, but I'm not really....just reserved I guess.  :)

I can........ do customer service like nobody's business!  For real.  I think I can do my job with my eyes closed. But I am totally burning out.  I hate being on the phone anymore and I would love to work in a room all by myself.  hehe

I embrace change......  not too well sometimes.  Not sure if it's the Capricorn in me or what.  I like having a schedule and like to know what is coming next.  When things fall out of plan I get a little weird.  LOL!

Share your answers with me in the comments below!  Hope you're having a good week so far!

This week totally got away from me!  I usually try to write my blogs for the week on Sunday's but life happened!

Here we go with this weeks "finish this"....

I have a quarter to use a pay phone, I call..... First of all, a pay phone?!  Wow, can not remember the last time I saw one of these!  But to answer the question, I'd probably call my Mommy.  :)

I found $25 in my pocket, I buy.....   MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC!!!!!!!!!

I have 25 minutes to watch anything on TV, I turn on....Real Housewives of....... I know, I know...it's my guilty pleasure!

A meal I can prepare, from start to finish in 25 minutes or less is....anything with Bisquick.  I love this stuff!

At the age of 25, I wish I had known....that I'd still be at the SAME JOB I am now.

If I drove 25 miles south from my house, I'd be in... pretty sure I'd be in Maryland.  Or Delaware.  OK, I'm not really sure.  LOL

Now it's YOUR turn!!!!!!!   And GO!

6 things about my job that amuse me

6 things about my job that amuse me:

Wait, What?!  If you are going to call me for a part number, please have a pen/pencil and paper in front of you.  Nothing like rattling off the part number and have the person on the other end of the phone go “oh wait, let me get some paper and a pen”.  !!!!!!!!!

You’re breaking up!  This one makes me chuckle.  All my calls are answered on a land line and a lot of calls we receive nowadays are from a mobile device.  So it’s funny when you’re trying to talk to someone and they say “You’re breaking up”.  Um, hello, I’m the one on the land line.

The last to know!  Sometimes my customers will call me with information about a promotion that I was not aware of.  Wow, that’s embarrassing!

Is there a “technician” available?  I have heard this one for years.  Yes people, I am a female.  I CAN help you.  I CAN give you technical support.   They ask me a question, I answer (correctly at that!).  Then I get “hmm OK, well is there a technician I can talk to?”  *slaps forehead*

I’m sorry, WHAT DID YOU SAY?  It’s hard when a customer service department is located in the front office.  Because 85% of the time you come up here we are on the phone.  Which means you are being loud and I can not hear what my customer is saying.

Awkward silence is OK.  Yes, it IS!  Regardless of what you think.  You do not have to fill every silent moment with mindless chatter.  If you've been reading my blogs, you realize this is a pet peeve of mine.  LOL

So what things amuse you at your job?

Things that made me smile last week

Yep, for some reason last week was a craptastic work week.  Between the office politics and the co worker who feels the need to talk during every second of the work day, I was definitely spent.

This was my dinner, Thanks Mr. Beam

But the week ended on a good note.  Friday, my BFF came to visit from New Jersey.  She moved there to be with her Fiance last October.  I miss her terribly!  If you read my marathon post, she's the one that suffered, err I mean, trained and ran with me.  We've been through a lot together!

We all met at our other friend's house, Melissa for a Mexican dinner feast.  It was so yummy!!

Nom, Nom, Nom

We ate and talked and ate some more.  The weather was fantastic, so Melissa built a fire.

We had so much fun we realized it was 4:30 AM and that we should probably to to bed.  LOL!  I cherish these times with good friends.  I love them!

Here's to a better week!

So that is what made me smile last week - how about you?

Full moon?! I KNEW IT!

Tomorrow is full moon.  What does that mean really?  Whenever this time comes I’m always reminded by the type of phone calls I get, or how people I work with are reacting to situations.  If you have read my other entries, you know I’m a customer service representative by day.  This puts my full moon radar in overdrive during this time.

Other weird things will happen too.  Like this morning I come in to work and realize my head set is DOA.  Dead. Not happening.  Guess I was in a hurry to get out of here on Friday that it didn’t click back in the charging cradle properly.  Grrrr

And my computer?  Forget about it!  It’s been locking up on me all day so far.  Then there are the off-the-wall questions that start coming in.  Or confusion with emails.  You name it.

So I’m not sure what it is about the full moon.  It makes weird people even weirder.

What kinds of things do you notice around full moon?
