Finish This! 7th edition
Another Finish This! YAY! I look forward to Wednesday's. Thanks for my fellow bloggers for hosting this link up:
OK, let's go!
The best mistake I ever made.....was starting my family at a young age. I say "best" because my Feather is the best thing that ever happened to me. :)
From this mistake, I learned....that while I was a young Mommy, I should have furthered my education while I was still young.
When I'm anxious, I tell myself.....it could be way worse.
All I really want to do is....be happy. That seems so simple. But it really is harder than it seems. There is no manual for this thing we're doing called "life". Wish there was. Guess it's my job to figure it out!
Now it is your turn! How would you finish this?

6 things about my job that amuse me
Wait, What?! If you are going to call me for a part number, please have a pen/pencil and paper in front of you. Nothing like rattling off the part number and have the person on the other end of the phone go “oh wait, let me get some paper and a pen”. !!!!!!!!!
You’re breaking up! This one makes me chuckle. All my calls are answered on a land line and a lot of calls we receive nowadays are from a mobile device. So it’s funny when you’re trying to talk to someone and they say “You’re breaking up”. Um, hello, I’m the one on the land line.
The last to know! Sometimes my customers will call me with information about a promotion that I was not aware of. Wow, that’s embarrassing!
Is there a “technician” available? I have heard this one for years. Yes people, I am a female. I CAN help you. I CAN give you technical support. They ask me a question, I answer (correctly at that!). Then I get “hmm OK, well is there a technician I can talk to?” *slaps forehead*
I’m sorry, WHAT DID YOU SAY? It’s hard when a customer service department is located in the front office. Because 85% of the time you come up here we are on the phone. Which means you are being loud and I can not hear what my customer is saying.
Awkward silence is OK. Yes, it IS! Regardless of what you think. You do not have to fill every silent moment with mindless chatter. If you've been reading my blogs, you realize this is a pet peeve of mine. LOL
So what things amuse you at your job?

Finish This! 6th Edition
Hope your week is going good so far! I can not believe this weekend we'll be observing the Memorial Day Holiday. Time sure does fly!
It's time for the weekly 'Finish This'! I always link up through:
My favorite recipe is.....
I totally just make it over the weekend! It's a weight watchers friendly baked beans. I'll have to post the recipe for it one of these days. Goes great with summer-time cook outs! NOM!
I believe in.....
equality...for EVERYONE. There! I said it! Yes I did! OK, listen...I'm mainly talking about same-sex marriage. Just today, the Federal judge strikes down Pennsylvania's same-sex marriage ban and will be issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Now, I totally know what the Bible says....Yes I sure do. Not only that, but we've heard it over and over again by the people that do not agree with same-sex couples. I look at it this way....it doesn't affect me. It's none of my business. If they want to get married, who cares? It's not for me to judge...that is up to the Higher Being that you believe in. Don't get any ruffled feathers people...just a thought. :P
I need to set boundaries....
hmm I've been thinking about this one all day. I guess I would have to say with my computer usage. Maybe spending too much time on Facebook or cruising around the web. I want to write more. So perhaps this is a time management issue instead. I don't know. LOL
I began living when.....
No offense to my sweet pea Heather-Feather, but I'd have to say once she grew up and didn't need me anymore. Well, as a child would anyway. But if I'm honest with myself, I would say when I turned 40 is when I really started living. I explored my artistic side with drawing and writing. I've been having fun!
So there are my answers...how would YOU answer these? C'mon, I wanna hear!

What is your favorite quote?
There is this quote that I have adored for years. I love it so much that I had it as my email signature for quite some time.
We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We have spiritual beings have a human experience.
-Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
I guess it could be taken different ways, depending on the person reading it. But to me, I love this because it describes what I believe. Yes, we're human beings, but this body we're in is just a temporary vessel. Our real home is on the other side where we are spiritual beings. Coming to this plane to learn karmic lessons to further our souls. I remember this quote when I'm going through something that is difficult. I'm here temporarily and I am learning a lesson. :)
Now share your favorite quote! Do you have one that means a lot to you? Whether it's a serious one, funny or sad, share away!

The pressure to be "perfect"
If you haven't seen this video, please watch it now. See for yourself how society has clouded the way we think we should look. The pressure for our young girls to be perfect is frightening. I cringe to think that a size 12 is considered a plus size! How is this possible? To me, this is an average, normal size. I just can't wrap my brain around it.
Sometimes I feel the pressure to be perfect. Yep, even at 44. I always say that we are our own worst enemies when it comes to how we see ourselves. Let's face it, we are. I am very hard on myself. I'm always stressing about what I can eat that fits in to my plan and forget about the exercising part! I feel guilty if I miss a work out or if I'm having a craptastic week at work and just can't drag myself to the gym. I guess it's human nature, but wish we didn't torture ourselves like this.
So what are your thoughts? Do you find yourself feeling the pressure to be perfect?

Finish This! 6th Edition
Hope everyone is having a good week so far! It's time for another Finish This post! I am linking up with:
A lesson I learned from my Mom.....
I have learned many lessons from my Mom over the years! But the one I chose was "do not stare at people who are different than you". (meaning like if someone has a disability) I grew up knowing that people that were different were just like me and you. And starring at them only makes them more uncomfortable than they probably already are. I feel this was being taught to us at a young age, because little did we know, my Sister's Son, Benjamin was born with Williams Syndrome. It was good practice. :)
To burn calories, I.....
Normally I try to get to the gym at least 3 times a week. I'll do the treadmill or elliptical and also do some strength training. I just committed myself to a 4 week boot camp class. (2 classes a week) This is NO JOKE! For real! Tonight is my 3rd class and I'm still sore from Monday's class. hehe
My best hair day was......
I can't recall one day in particular, except maybe my wedding day. Every time my Heather-Feather cuts my hair the salon, I always feel like I'm having a good hair day. She always styles it for me. Love her!
I am grateful for.....
Oh many things! I am grateful for a roof over my head, a job that helps provide for my family, an insurance plan that helps take care of my health. I am grateful for my family & my friends!
Now it's YOUR turn! How would you answer these questions? Feel free to answer them in the comments below!

Mother's Day 2014
Happy Mother's Day to all the Mommy's out there! It's your day! I hope you spend it doing something you love with the people you love.
Today I'd like to share my favorite memory of my Mom. You see, it's hard to pick just one memory. I have many memories of my Mom and I love them all!
But the one that sticks out in my mind the most is having my Mom present during my labor. I was so young and the term "I WANT MY MOMMY!!" was totally me. After graduation, I got married and moved to Massachusetts with my new husband. His family was living there at the time so that is where we headed.
Fast forward a few months. I was very home sick! My parents had decided to make the drive up to see their first grandchild be born. I can't tell you how nice it was to have my Mom there during my labor. To see her kind smile and loving eyes just made me feel so much better. When the time came for them to leave it was very hard for me to say goodbye.
When I look back at my life I can see now that the one thing that has remained the same all this time is my Mom. Steady and sure, she has been there. Even though I've grown up, got divorced, remarried and raised my daughter, Mom is still there. I love her dearly!
So this year and every year on Mother's Day, I will celebrate my Mom. I cherish the time we have together. I hope you spend today celebrating the Mom in your life too!

Finish This! 5th edition
Thanks for joining me for another Finish This! As always, I'm linking up with fellow bloggers:
Here we go!
1) I feel energized when….
I get a good work out in. I may not want to do it, but I'm sure glad I did when I'm finished!
2) I feel small when…..
I'm complaining about my own life and then see someone else that clearly is having a harder time than myself.
3) I feel big when….
I fall off the food/exercise wagon and my clothes feel tight. :(
4) I feel indestructible when...
Not sure I've ever felt indestructible. Well except maybe while training for the 1/2 marathon.
5) I feel stupid when….
I'm trying to figure out HTML for my blog. The simplest thing such as adding a font seems so difficult.
6) I feel smart when….
I'm answering technical questions at my job.

Things that made me smile last week
Yep, for some reason last week was a craptastic work week. Between the office politics and the co worker who feels the need to talk during every second of the work day, I was definitely spent.
This was my dinner, Thanks Mr. Beam |
But the week ended on a good note. Friday, my BFF came to visit from New Jersey. She moved there to be with her Fiance last October. I miss her terribly! If you read my marathon post, she's the one that suffered, err I mean, trained and ran with me. We've been through a lot together!
We all met at our other friend's house, Melissa for a Mexican dinner feast. It was so yummy!!
Nom, Nom, Nom |
We ate and talked and ate some more. The weather was fantastic, so Melissa built a fire.
We had so much fun we realized it was 4:30 AM and that we should probably to to bed. LOL! I cherish these times with good friends. I love them!
Here's to a better week! |
So that is what made me smile last week - how about you?
